If a nice, even crispiness is your priority when it comes to grilled cheese, skip the stove and try the air fryer. You'll get a uniform texture and lovely melt without having to worry about burning your sandwich or any flipping mishaps.

Ingredients
-
2 pieces of quality bread
-
Slices of good cheese
-
A tablespoon of butter, at room temperature
-
Dijon mustard
-
Freshly ground black pepper
-
Bread & butter pickles
Directions
Preheat the air fryer @ “ROAST” to 375F/; spray the wire basket with cooking oil spray.
For this dish you can use almost any type of the cheeses you like. You can also use a combination of different cheeses to achieve a particular grilled cheese sandwich.
Take 2 pieces of good quality bread, spread a thin layer of Dijon mustard on each side. Place the cheese(s) on the bread, sprinkle some black pepper if you desire, and spread butter on the outside of the bread, on both sides.
Place the sandwich in the wire basket and bake for 4 minutes on one side. Flip the sandwich over and cook for another 4-6 minutes.
Alternatively, you can use the baking tray in the air fryer for the grilled cheese. The result will be slightly different with the bread have a slightly crusty finish.
Serve the grilled cheese sandwich with some bread and butter pickles.
